This article was talking about how the role of women in the society has improved and that they have more cultural freedom than other Islamic countries. Although women are required by law to wear hijabs in public, they find that this is just a cultural and social act. The hijab has and always will be a part of Iranian culture. Iran has a Persian culture, and therefore, they are less strict on women unlike Saudi Arabia. Women are allowed by the cultural and social laws to show their faces. Marriage cultural laws say that men can marry non- Islamic women, can have up to four wives if he treats them equally, and they can get divorces without any cause, but women can only marry Islamic men and can get divorces only on extreme conditions.
I feel happy that Iran is giving power and more freedom to women because not all Islamic countries are like Iran in that sense and Iran is one of the only to give them power. Women, for a long time, have had to fight for equal rights and power, but Iran gave some of that power to them. Iran still has some restriction on women, but they are not as extreme as countries such as Saudi Arabia.
The events practiced in the article define the culture of Iran because these are all ways of life for women in Iran. Wearing hijabs is an everyday activity that is required by the cultural and social laws of the country. Persian culture has been practiced in Iran for centuries since the time of empire conquest. Persian culture is widespread in Iran, and so many people in Iran practice it that it is now their way of life.
